Where do I obtain the Prospectus and Application Form for the Masters in Emergency Medicine course?

Is the application fee of INR 500 refundable?

The application fee of INR 500 once paid is not refundable or transferable.

Is the MEM Program recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI)?

The MEM course is not recognized by the MCI.

Will I be paid stipend during the three year residency?

You will be paid fixed stipend of 24,000 per month in first year, 25,000 pm in second year and 26,000 pm in the third year.

What is the course fee? Can I pay in installments?

Course Fees – Rs 12 lakh INR to be paid in 3 installments.
Successful candidates are required to submit an initial deposit of Rs 3 lakh INR by 5th June, or the seat will be allotted to the waiting list candidates on merit basis. Rs 4 lac INR is payable during the time of admission (on or before 15th June 2019). Rs 3 lac INR is payable on or before 15th June 2020 and the last installment of Rs 2 lac INR is payable on or before 15th June 2021. Successful candidates are required to submit Rs 7 lac INR and all relevant documents for admission as advised on or before 15th June 2019.

What is the syllabus for the written assessment?

Will I be provided accommodation during residency?

You will be provided hostel accommodation in the campus subject to availability.

What facility will be provided for elective at George Washington University, USA?

All of the residents can have a one month rotation at GW University, USA. The residents are responsible for the travel, accommodation and food. You will be assisted with getting a furnished accommodation.

What are the job opportunities after this course?

The demand for emergency physicians, especially in the private sector is large, but the supply of trained emergency physicians is less, hence good job opportunities are envisaged. There are also a lot of opportunities abroad.

How will the results of the test and selection list be informed?

The candidates will be declared same evening after the interview process is completed. Candidates have the opportunity to ask for feedback of the interview.

I do not have West Bengal Medical Council (MMC) Registration. Can I still apply?

You can apply with your State Medical Council Registration. Once selected, you can apply for the WBMC / MCI Registration.

Can I practice in the USA after this course?

In the USA, it is mandatory that all doctors (including US graduates) to pass USMLE before working in the US. Overseas degrees are not recognized.
